Description
A row of five small townhouses dating from the mid-19th century. The front is constructed of brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern, topped with grey slate roofs running parallel to the street.
The houses are three storeys high, each with a single bay. They feature painted brick plinths and painted stone or imitation stone doorcases. The doorcases have segmental-arched overlights with a single pane of glass. The doors vary: Nos. 6 and 8 have two fielded panels above two flush panels, Nos. 10 and 14 have six panels with small middle panels, and No. 12 has a four-panel door with a lozenge-paned cross-panel set within stout glazing bars. Painted stone sills and cambered blue-brick arched heads are present throughout. No. 6 has replacement windows, while No. 8 has a recessed four-pane sash window to the first storey and replaced modern cross-casements with wooden sills to the upper storeys. Nos. 10, 12, and 14 retain recessed twelve-pane sashes on all storeys, with No. 14 having two sashes to each upper storey – the other houses have a single window per storey. Two-course flush blue brick bands are visible at sill level on each of the upper storeys. A corbelled rounded brick course sits beneath the plain eaves, which step down to match the street's slope between Nos. 8 and 10. Ridge chimneys are also present. Rear windows have been replaced, except for those on the upper storeys of No. 14, with some first-storey rear extensions and fire stairs added to the rear. The interiors have not been inspected.
