Description

The Old Farmhouse is a house dating from 1653, with an 18th-century extension and 20th-century modernization. It was originally a farmhouse and cottage. The main part of the building is timber framing with brick infill, set on a sandstone plinth, while the extension is in washed brick. It has a Welsh slate roof and one ridge and one gable brick chimney. The front is arranged with one and two storeys and five bays. The left three bays are single-storey and feature good timber framing with panels of 2 by 9, including angle bracing. There are two 2-light wooden casements with glazing bars, and a central blocked doorway with the date "1653" on the lintel. The right two bays, formerly a cottage, are two-storey, with a door and two 2-light casements with glazing bars, all under rough segmental brick heads. The left gable shows a tiebeam and collar truss. The interior has not been inspected.
