Description
Old Smithy is a cottage that was formerly a school and smithy, dating from the mid-18th century, with later additions to the rear and sides. The building is constructed of limewashed brick and features a pantile roof. It stands two storeys high and has a two-cell plan. The windows are two-light timber casements with iron stays. There is a doorway into the left cell that has an added porch. The brick stacks at the gables have collars, and the gable parapets are topped with tile coping and brick kneelers. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace with a large internal stack and a chamfered beam. The right-hand room has a replaced ceiling.
