Description
Saighton Lane Farm is a farmhouse built in 1888 by Douglas & Fordham for the 1st Duke of Westminster. It is constructed of brown brick with blue diapering on the upper storey, and features an oak-framed upper storey on the projecting front gable, the attic storey to the left, and the left end gable. The roof is covered with red tiles, and the chimneys on the right gable and the rear roof slope, which is left of centre, have plinths and spiral moulded brick flues. The building has two storeys and an attic, with three windows. The iron casements in the openings have bevelled mullions, recessed bevelled reveals, and sandstone heads. Patterned leaded glazing is preserved only in the hall window and the attic windows in the front gable. There is a recessed porch under the front gable on the right, which features a framed and boarded door. Above the porch, there are two inscriptions: "The profit of the earth is for all; the King himself is served by the field." and "Every house is builded by some man, but he that built all things is God: Hebrews 3.4." The interior does not contain any features of special interest.
