Description

The curtain wall to the east of the Inner Bailey at Chester Castle dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of Bunter sandstone ashlar. The east front features a battered wall with a large-scale keel moulding beneath a battlemented parapet, which has moulded offset coping. The wall includes buttresses that are irregularly placed. At a lower level, army storage buildings adjoin the wall. The rear side has a raised walkway with a stone-flagged surface above brick walling. To the left, the south-south-eastern curtain wall connects.
