Description
Church View Post Office and the attached cottage, located on School Lane, were likely built around 1870 for the 3rd Marquis and 1st Duke of Westminster, possibly designed by John Douglas. This building features a simplified Jacobean style, constructed from brown brick with blue diapering on the upper storey. The roof is covered with red tiles and has a gabled shape, featuring a central chimney on the ridge and a plain corner chimney. The windows are small-pane iron casements set in doubly bevelled stone surrounds with bevelled mullions. The post office window consists of eight lights and includes a transom. There are two half-dormers with raking roofs. The building has one and a half storeys, with the upper section slightly projecting and supported by a dentilled brick string. The interiors have not been inspected. This structure is listed for its group value.
