Description
No. 184 Chester Road is a 2-storey, 2-window cottage built in 1746, featuring pebbledash walls with smooth rendered margins at the angles and openings, as well as bands at the first floor. The cottage has slate roofs with gable stacks. The ground floor front rooms have recessed original 12-pane double-hung sash windows, with 8 panes in the lower sashes. The first floor front rooms have replacement 12-pane top-hung casement windows, and there is an original 8-pane horizontal sliding sash window in the attic. The front door has been replaced, and a gabled porch has been added. A datestone inscribed 'MB RB 1746' is present. The interior has not been fully inspected, but it features an inglenook fireplace with a hood beam in the south room and an altered fireplace on the splay in the north room, along with exposed beams in both rooms.
