Description

This is a row of three houses, numbered 1-7 Chester Road, in Macclesfield. Originally likely a single dwelling, the houses largely date to the early 17th century, with later alterations and recent restorations. They are constructed from roughly coursed and squared pink sandstone with stone-flagged roofs. The building is low, two storeys high, and has a four-window facade, although the right-hand bay appears to be a later addition. The lower openings are later insertions, likely dating to the late 19th century. The left-hand side features a shop front, followed by three small shop windows set within plain architraves, each positioned to the right of a doorway. Two stone-mullioned windows with three lights are located above, while the remaining windows are wooden casements. A brick end wall and axial stacks are also present. The building possesses group value from this arrangement.
