Description

The Tudor Barn, located approximately 100 yards west of Arley Hall, dates back to around 1604. Originally a barn, it is now used as a tea shop and kitchen. The structure is built of red English garden wall bond brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof. It is a single-storey building with an open roof at the north end, while the south end retains its original two floors.

On the west front, there is a stone plinth with small offset buttresses and stone quoins. The façade includes four doorways with stone surrounds and heavy lintels. The three doors on the right are 19th-century plank constructions, with the rightmost serving as a walkway. To the left, there is one two-light and one three-light casement window, both with stone surrounds, mullions, and arched lights. The first floor has two replacement square 20th-century single light windows where the hay loft doors originally were, along with a three-light casement window slightly to the right of center. A square hayloft door is located to the right of this window, along with a two-light casement window with a stone surround on the far right. The roof features dormer ventilation grilles.

The north gable end has two 20th-century ground floor windows with segment heads, and breather vents in diamond and X patterns. The first floor showcases close-studding with 20th-century glass infill and V-strutting with brick infill. On the east front, the right-hand door to the walkway has a stone surround with '1609' carved on the lintel in 19th-century lettering. To the right of this door is a three-light casement window with a stone surround, along with three 20th-century double French windows that continue as glass panels to the upper wall. There is also a four-light window with a stone surround located to the right of center.

Inside, the barn features queen post trusses with angle braces and two sets of wind braces. The building adjoins the Cruck barn at its south end.
