Description
Crabmill Old Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, that likely dates from the early 17th century. It was extended in the 18th century and altered in the late 20th century. The building features an oak frame and brick construction with a clay tile roof. It has small framing and some close studding. There are two doorways, one of which has an old oak door, both in altered positions. The original casements have been replaced, and there is a central brick chimney on the ridge.
Inside, the farmhouse has oak beams, many of which are almost unwrought. Two beams have been reduced in size to eliminate rot but still retain parts of their ovolo mouldings. A significant amount of oak framing is visible, along with some roof timbers. The house has been extended to the rear, likely in part during the 18th century. Alterations to the floor plan and the replacement of staircases have obscured the original layout.
