Description

Church House is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with alterations and a large early 19th-century addition to the south, creating a "T" shape in plan. The northern section is timber-framed and features an old slate roof with diminished courses. It stands two storeys high and has three windows, with ten frame panels along its length. The east front showcases close studding with a middle rail leading up to coved jettying at the first floor, and full chevron panel infilling above. There is an oak studded door on strap hinges set in a heavy moulded frame, flanked by carved consoles beneath a bressumer. The ground floor has three-light casements, while the first floor features two-light windows. Other walls have been replaced with brickwork in English Garden Wall Bond.

The southern section is constructed of red brick in Flemish Bond, with a slate roof, standing 2½ storeys high and featuring a cellar with four bays. The two central bays are set forward and include an added porch with a pitched roof and barge boards, a segmental arch, a four-panel part-glazed door, and a rectangular transom light. The windows in this section are mullion and transom casements with glazing bars in the upper section and cambered arches. Inside, there are ovolo moulded and bevelled beams, heavy floor joists, one Elizabethan oak panelled door, and Victorian four-panel doors in the south wing.
