Description
The ha-ha wall, built in the 18th century, is located 15 metres west of the west front of Adlington Hall and runs parallel to it for 150 metres towards the Wilderness garden. This retaining wall features a rubble sandstone revetment on the east side of the ha-ha ditch. At intervals along the wall, there are projecting rubble stones that serve as steps. The wall is breached at its centre by a causeway that includes a wooden gate. This structure acted as a barrier between the western edge of the gardens and the deer park beyond. It is listed for its group value.
