Description

The cross base in the churchyard of St James dates from the 15th or 16th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. It features a square cross base and an octagonal shaft that sits on a stepped plinth. The plinth consists of two steps, with a square base that transitions to a faceted base adorned with moulded beasts at the corners. The cross base is set diagonally above the plinth and transitions to the octagonal shaft through offsets. A 20th-century wooden circular cross is placed on top of the shaft.
