Description
A row of three cottages located in Chelford, dating to the late 17th century with later additions. The cottages are largely whitewashed, with English garden wall and stretcher bond brickwork concealing the original timber frame. They have stone slate roofs. The central cottage retains late 17th-century features, including a 19th-century porch on its left side, featuring a three-light cambered head casement window on the ground floor and a gabled dormer with decorative timber framing to the first floor. The cottage to the right was damaged by fire and largely rebuilt in the 20th century, mirroring the appearance of the central cottage. A 19th-century addition sits on the left-hand side, with three-light casement windows to both ground and first floors. Inside No.4, remnants of small timber framing are visible within the internal walls, and the ground floor rooms have chamfered ceiling beams. The group value of these cottages lies in their historical development and varying architectural styles.
