Description

Chelford Bridge South is a bridge dating from the late 18th century, with a 19th-century parapet. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a single span with retaining walls that curve forward at their ends. The arch is made up of voussoirs, with an extended keystone that projects upwards through a hood mould to a band. There are two pilaster buttresses on either side of the bridge, and a band above that forms abacus capitals for the buttresses. The 19th-century parapet consists of heavy blocks of ashlar with segmental coping.
