Description

Upper Paradise Mill is a silk mill built between 1822 and 1824. It is constructed of brick and features a Welsh slate roof. The internal structure consists of timber beams supported by cast-iron columns, which have been replaced with rolled steel joists. The mill has five storeys and an eight-window range, with a segmentally-arched entry to the rear yard on the left and a doorway immediately to its right. The windows have been renewed in their original openings, featuring flat-arched heads and stone sills. There is moulded guttering at the eaves, and a privy tower along with an unlit elliptical stair tower projects from the rear.
