Description
No. 34 Mill Street is a building in Macclesfield that was likely originally a dwelling but has been extensively reconstructed for retail use. The original structure probably dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with modifications made in the 18th century and the current front added around 1900. The front features mock timber, while some timber-framing is visible internally, and the rear is rendered over brick. The building has a Welsh slate roof and stands four storeys tall, with a single-window range but a deep plan. The ground floor has a plain shop front, and each upper storey features a leaded window. Inside, some elements of the earlier timber building remain, but extensive remodelling has affected the integrity of the original structure.
