Description
Spittle House, specifically the north range, is a former farmhouse dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond and features a roof made of Kerridge stone-slate, with a stone ridge and a brick chimney on one gable. The building has a double-pile plan and presents a symmetrical three-bay front over two storeys. The end bays have cambered brick heads above three-light wooden casements, while the central bay features a similar head over a glazed door, which has an inserted single light above it. Inside, the exposed ceiling timbers have been reused from an earlier timber-framed house.
