Description
Nos. 2 and 4 Market Place are a pair of houses, now serving as shops with accommodation above, dating from around 1800. They are constructed of brick and feature a stone-flagged roof. The buildings are three storeys high and have a five-window range. The ground floor has inserted shop fronts, while the first floor features two oriel windows on either side of a central sash window, all set within a stressed painted stone architrave. The upper windows have also been renewed in their original openings, each with flat-arched gauged brick heads. The buildings are topped with a modillion eaves cornice and have end wall stacks. There is a pedimented doorcase located in the gable end return to Brunswick Street.
