Description

Row of Trees Farm is a house that was originally a farmhouse, built in 1607, with 19th and 20th century additions and alterations. The building features a timber frame with brick and wattle and daub infill, topped by a stone slate roof and a stone chimney stack. It has a baffle-entry plan that has been altered to a corridor plan and consists of a single range over two storeys.

The entrance front has a stone plinth and small framing with arch braces, and there is a gabled wing that slightly projects to the left. The underside of the gable tie beam is prominent, showcasing ovolo moulding, while arch braces connect it to the principal rafters. The ends of the wall plates, purlins, and ridge are exposed. The lower windows and doorway feature segmental brick arches. The doors and windows have been replaced in the 19th or 20th century.

A gable chimney stack is located above the front door and has four diamond-shaped chimneys. There is also a stone chimney stack on the left side, which has a cyma recta string course and is inscribed with "EDMUND DUNCALF A:DN1 1607." Above this, two diamond-shaped brick stacks are present, and there is a small fine window facing the garden front at the first floor level. To the right side, there is a small 18th or 19th century addition and a probable 20th century projecting wing on the garden front.

Inside, there is an inglenook hearth in the parlour with a chamfered bressumer, and chamfered stopped beams can be found in the parlour and study, along with some small framing. The building also features a queen strutted truss with angle braces.
