Description
39 Welsh Row is a building dated 1846, constructed of red brick with stone dressings and featuring blue brick diapering on the front. It is a single-storey structure with a slight central projection that includes a 12-light stone mullioned and transomed canted bay window. This bay window is topped with a balustrade that has cusped openings, and the entire assembly is surmounted by a shaped gable with stone copings, three obelisk finials, a clock face, and a panel in a moulded surround, which is inscribed "Savings Bank erected 1846." The building has quoins at all angles, and each side features one 4-light stone mullioned and transomed window with lozenge pattern glazing. There is a small porch on the left-hand side with a gabled end and a plain doorway. The gabled ends have stone copings, corbels, and obelisk finials, while the eaves are plain and the roof is covered with slates. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 29, 33 to 47 (odd), and Nos 55 and 57.
