Description
12, 12A, and 12B West Street is a late 18th century house constructed of stucco with a stone plinth. The building stands three storeys tall and features three sash windows; the outer windows are tripartite with flat brick arches, while the central window has cornices on consoles. There is a central doorway, which now has a modern door, and a flat-roofed porch supported by Roman Doric columns and pilasters. The eaves are moulded wood, and the building has gabled ends covered with slates.
At the rear, there is a notable two-storeyed semi-circular bay with a roof made of green graduated slates and an iron finial at the apex. Nos 12A and 12B, located on the right-hand side, are now in separate use but were originally part of No 12. The front of the building has been affected by the removal of stucco. Nos 12A and 12B are two storeys high, each with slightly projecting bays that have tripartite sash windows. There are two doorways; the one on the left features a restored wood doorcase with panelled reveals and a six-panelled door, while No 12B has a doorway with a cornice and a 19th-century flush-panelled door. Both properties have moulded wood eaves and slate roofs.
