Description

This is a good quality, detached house dating from the mid-18th century, situated within its own grounds. The house is constructed of red brick with a hipped slate roof. The front elevation has three storeys, with three sash windows on each floor. The outer windows are arranged with flat brick arches and keyblocks above. The central window is distinguished by a rusticated stone surround incorporating double keyblocks. The central doorway is similarly framed in rusticated stone with a pediment; a modern glazed door now occupies the space where a former six-panelled door once stood. Stone quoins are present on either side of the facade. Original features include a modillion cornice above the first storey and a brick and moulded stone eaves cornice above the second storey. A third storey was likely added in Victorian times, though its design is relatively sympathetic to the original. A single-storey addition from the 19th century is located to the right-hand side at the rear.
