Description
This is a farm outbuilding dating from the 17th century, located approximately 5 yards before Broomfield Farmhouse. It is constructed of red English garden wall bond brick with ashlar dressings and features a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys.
The entrance front includes a 17th-century porchway on the left and a 19th and 20th-century addition on the right. The left portion consists of two bays, with a central doorway on the ground floor that has a chamfered surround and a massive wedge-lintel. Flanking this doorway are two-light windows, each with chamfered ashlar surrounds. The first floor has two similar blocked windows.
On the left side, there are ashlar quoins on the right, a three-light window on the ground floor with chamfered ashlar surrounds, and a circular pitch-hole on the first floor set within a rectangular opening that has a cambered lintel. The gable above features ashlar springers and coping. Additionally, a 19th-century lean-to has been added on the left.
