Description

Old Hall Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse with a later addition. It features a timber frame with rendered infill, now entirely covered in render, and has a slate roof. The entrance front includes a stone plinth that runs along the entire building. On the left side, there is a gabled wing with a half-glazed doorway on the ground floor, flanked by single-light casements. Above this, at the first floor, is a 3-light casement window. To the right of this wing is a later, slightly recessed addition with two 4-light windows from the 20th century. A brick chimney stack is positioned slightly to the right of the center.

On the left-hand side, there are two ground floor windows: a 6-light window on the right and a 4-light window on the left, which features a king mullion in the center. Both windows have stone sills. The right end of the house has a half-glazed doorway on the right, with single-light windows on either side, a 2-light window to the left, and two 2-light casements on the first floor. A ground floor wing projects from the right side. The rear of the farmhouse has a projecting gabled wing on the left.

Inside, the ground floor has small-framed walling on a chamfered sandstone plinth, with ovolo-moulded ceiling beams that end in stepped and ogee end-stops. The drawing room features a massive brick chimney breast with an ashlar lintel. A staircase, dating from the 18th or early 19th century, has been relocated from another building. The first floor reveals exposed small-framing and angle braces in the older part of the house, with the low positioning of the angle braces indicating that the wall height has been raised.
