Description
32 Buxton Old Road is a former house that was later converted into two cottages and is now a house again. It dates from the late 17th century and was adapted in the 19th century, with a 20th-century addition on the right. The building is constructed from coursed, buff sandstone rubble and features a composition tile roof along with two brick chimneys.
The house has a rectangular lobby-entry layout, with one room on the left and two rooms on the right. It has a two-storey, asymmetrical front with four bays. The ground floor has two windows, while the first floor has one, all of which are horned 6-pane sashes. Two of the windows are set in chamfered surrounds, and one retains the remains of a hood mould. There are also two doors, one of which is blocked, both located under plain stone lintels.
On the left gable, there is a rubble hood mould over the upper window, along with a head of Celtic type set into the wall above. Inside, the ground floor features heavily ovolo-moulded beams.
