Description
The dovecote at Withington Hall is a mid-18th century structure built in red English garden wall bond with stone dressings and a slate roof. It features a lead and timber lantern and is designed as an octagonal single storey building. The entrance front has a stone plinth with a central doorway framed by rusticated stone quoins and a triple keystone, the central one being dropped. Above the doorway is a circular light surrounded by four keystones. The rear of the dovecote has a smaller circular window with a plain stone surround. A moulded stone cornice runs around the building at the eaves level. At the top, there is an octagonal wooden lantern topped with a lead dome and ball, which includes a 20th-century weather vane.
