Description
The parish boundary stone, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, is made of sandstone ashlar. It is located on the western side of a field boundary, positioned perpendicular to the hedgerow that once marked the boundary between Bollington and Rainow. The stone resembles a small gravestone, standing about 0.5 meters high. The lower half has vertical sides and is buried in the ground, while the upper half features gently sloped sides and a semi-circular head. The north face of the stone is inscribed with a 'B' for Bollington, and the south face has a 'K' for Kerridge. The west side is plain, while the east side displays an incised 'R' for Rainow, positioned slightly lower than the other letters.
