Description

The archway in the wall located approximately 30 metres east of Turton Tower is likely from the 17th century and may have been relocated. It is constructed from sandstone blocks and features a round arch with large jambstones and dressed voussoirs. The inner face of the arch has a chamfered surround, while the outer face is rebated for gates. The wall above the arch has a roll-moulded weathered coping that steps over the arch, creating a rectangular head.
