Description
Richmond Terrace is a long red brick terrace built around 1835, consisting of 21 consecutive houses, all two storeys high. The terrace features a stone moulded cornice and a plain parapet, with tall chimneys. Each house has an Ionic doorway, though the details vary; some have fluted columns while others do not, with a frieze and cornice set in segmental brick arches. Number 11 is notable for its raised curved pediment above the cornice, which includes a shield of arms and lettering on the frieze stating "Witton Estate Office." Each house has one window on the ground floor and two above, all with flat brick arches. Number 21 has 20th-century alterations to the ground floor for use as an insurance office, while the other houses remain unaltered. Nos 1 to 27 form a group.
