Description
This is a row of houses located on Victoria Street, including Number 10 James Street, built in the Victorian era but displaying elements of the earlier Georgian style. The buildings are constructed of brick and feature a stone cornice and dressings, along with three brick chimneys. They are two storeys high and have four-panel led doors that are accessed by three steps. Each door is topped with a round-headed fanlight and flanked by half-columns with palm-leaf capitals, frieze, and cornice. The ground floor has five windows, although the windows of Numbers 27 and 29 have been enlarged, and Number 31a (including Number 10 James Street) now features a shop window on each street elevation. Above, there are ten sash windows with stone sills and lintels. The Church of St John and this row of houses form a group with Numbers 51 and 53 James Street.
