Description
The Greenway Shelter in Sunnyhurst Wood is a shelter built in 1912. It is constructed from sandstone and features an iron roof structure with a stone slate covering.
The shelter has an octagonal shape and a conical stone slate roof. It is supported by eight solid, tooled, and coursed stone columns that have Tuscan-style capitals. These columns hold up a series of convex timber beams, and eight radial joists support an octagonal king post, with closely abutted rafters visible at the eaves. There is a stone kerb around the perimeter, which is now level with the ground. An inscription on the external face of one of the columns notes the date of August 1912 and the name of the benefactor in cursive script.
