Description

Stone Bridge is a small stone bridge built in 1903, constructed from sandstone blocks. It features a medieval style with a stilted Tudor arch that has a drip course above it. The arch is flanked by dry cutwaters that extend into refuges in the parapet wall. The parapet has roll-moulded and weathered coping with splayed outer ends. On the outer face of the north-east refuge, there are two inlaid stone tablets. The larger tablet has stylized lettering in relief, commemorating the public subscription of £2,737 raised to celebrate the coronation of King Edward VII, which was used to acquire the wood for the enjoyment of the Borough's inhabitants forever.
