Description

The iron structure at the east end of the warehouses west of the Navigation Bridge, located on Eanam Wharf, dates from around 1800. It is likely a capstan, featuring a large cylindrical iron column that tapers upwards and is mounted on two very large hexagonal steps. This capstan, along with the British Waterways Office, No 50 (Canal House), and the warehouses, creates a notable group of canal architecture.
