Description
Church House to the Church of St John, originally a Wesleyan Methodist church, was built around 1896. It is constructed of rock-faced sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a roof made of graduated Lakeland slate with ashlar coping. The building has two storeys and three windows. The central entrance consists of a boarded door with a plain overlight, set beneath a flat stone lintel that has a raised center. There are small sidelights in plain stone surrounds. The outer bays contain two-light sashes with flat stone lintels, stone mullions, and sloping stone sills, while the ground floor sills are painted. Above the door, there is a single sash window. A string course runs along the first floor, and the roof is adorned with gable copings on moulded kneelers. This building is included for its group value with the church.
