Description
23 Mill Dam is an early 19th-century building that has been altered over time. It features a mid 19th-century shop front and stands two storeys tall with an attic, consisting of one bay and topped with a slate roof. The shop front is notably eccentric, showcasing two windows and a central door. The window stalls are panelled, and the door is recessed with a glazed upper part and a three-centred head, while the lower part is panelled. Above the door is a fanlight. The windows consist of single sheets of glass. A modillioned cornice runs above the shop front, supported by four long, richly carved scrolled brackets that extend halfway down the window frame. Each bracket is topped with a carved grotesque male head that interrupts the cornice line.
