Description

The war memorial located on the north side of Earsdon Road in Shiremoor was built around 1919 by W.H. Endean and Son from Blyth. It is constructed from sandstone and granite. The memorial features a granite statue of a soldier with his hands resting on a rifle, positioned on a tall square tapered plinth that stands on two sandstone steps. The names of those who died from Shiremoor and the surrounding area during the Great War are inscribed on three sides of the plinth.
