Description
The Dudley War Memorial is a First World War memorial that includes additions for the Second World War. It features a two-stepped sandstone base topped with a plinth, which supports a marble female figure approximately 3 meters high, dressed in a long gown and cloak. The figure, likely representing Hope, leans on an anchor with her left arm.
The front of the pedestal displays a dedication and some names of the Fallen in black lettering, arranged in a single column, while additional names are inscribed on the sides. The inscription reads: "DUDLEY WAR MEMORIAL / THIS MONUMENT AND HOSPITAL / ARE ERECTED IN HONOURED MEMORY / OF OUR MEN WHO FELL IN THE / GREAT WAR 1914 -1918/(58 NAMES) AND 1939-1945 (20 NAMES)."
