Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of houses on the east side of Summerhill Street. The houses are built with English garden wall bond brick, with a painted ashlar plinth and dressings, and sandstone rubble to the rear and returns. The roof is covered in Welsh slate. The terrace consists of numbers 11 to 33, with each house having two bays and two storeys. Each house has architraves around the doors, some of which are four-panelled with overlights. Windows have wedge stone lintels, sashes, and some glazing bars, with projecting stone sills on the ground floor and a sill band on the first. There are eaves gutter cornices and end chimneys. The terrace is included on the list for its group value with the church of St. Matthew, and as an example of early working-class housing.
