Description

The gate piers and wall adjoining the City of Newcastle Employees Club were built in 1849 for the Northumberland Yeomanry. They are constructed from sandstone ashlar and brick. There are two gate piers; the left pier is square, while the right pier is narrower and set against the wall of the Riding School. Both piers feature plinths and console-topped inner pilasters. The brick wall, which is approximately 3 meters long, adjoins the left pier and has chamfered stone coping.
