Description

This early 19th-century stable and coach-house, originally serving Coxlodge Hall, is now offices. Constructed of sandstone ashlar with a plinth, it features a roof of graduated Lakeland slate with stone gable copings and a lead roof to the clock tower. The building is two storeys and has a 3:3:3 bay arrangement. A central double door with overlights is sheltered by a Corinthian porch, which is an addition. Flanking the entrance are sash windows with glazing bars in plain reveals, with projecting stone sills. Above the door are paired sash windows. A pedimented centrepiece contains a keyed oculus. Segmental-arched openings, originally two on each side, now contain inserted triple sashes. A central round-headed door was blocked in the left section, and paired sashes are positioned above the arches on the first floor, with oculi between. A sill band runs along the first floor, and an eaves band and gutter cornice are also present. A square Tuscan clock tower, now without a clock, has a round-hipped roof topped with a vane.
