Description
The Hall of the Church of St James and St Basil is a parish church hall built around 1931, likely designed by E E Lofting. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a plinth and quoins, topped with a graduated Lakeland slate roof. The building is one storey high with attics and consists of six bays. There are two prominent canted bays with moulded wood mullions and transoms that extend beyond the eaves, complemented by hipped dormers. The end bays have small horizontal windows with two and three lights, which are double-chamfered and placed irregularly, also featuring stone mullions and transoms. The roof is half-hipped. The left side of the building has buttresses and attic windows set in a half gable, while the right side includes a door with a shouldered lintel situated within a porch.
