Description
The vicarage of the Church of St James and St Basil is a building dating from around 1931, likely designed by E E Lofting. It features painted render with an ashlar doorcase and a graduated Lakeland slate roof, complemented by ashlar-coped brick chimneys. The structure is two storeys high and has three irregular bays, with the right bay being gabled. There is a lower gabled entrance and staircase projection, which includes a six-panel door with a fanlight that has glazing bars, set between moulded pilasters. To the right of the door, a sash window illuminates the staircase. The building has wide-boxed sashes, all with glazing bars, and render-filled elliptical arches above the ground-floor windows. The roof is low-pitched and hipped, featuring wide, overhanging eaves. This vicarage is included for its group value.
