Description
The grandstand attached to Brandling House, built around 1875 for High Gosforth Park Company Limited, is a notable structure made of sandstone ashlar. It features a cast iron loggia topped with a glass roof and has later additions of wrought iron railings. The grandstand is supported by rusticated walls and includes a 10-bay loggia with an 8-bay arcade, which is characterized by slender columns that have quasi-Ionic capitals and pierced spandrels beneath the barge-boarded glass roof. Additionally, there is a roof terrace supported by shorter columns that are similar in style, although the fascia has been altered.
