Description
No. 236 on Westgate Road is a house that has been converted into offices. It was built in the early 19th century and features English bond brick with a plinth and painted ashlar dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys, a basement, and attics, and is composed of three bays.
The entrance on the right consists of a six-panelled door flanked by fluted pilasters, topped with a large fanlight that has curved radial glazing bars, all set within a brick arched surround. The windows have wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills, with plain sashes and a ground floor sill band. A gutter cornice runs along the top, and the roof includes a segmental-headed dormer and a central corniced brick chimney. The basement is concealed by a shop that has been built on the garden.
