Description
The building comprises shops and houses, now offices, dating to circa 1837 and designed for Richard Grainger. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar with a low-pitched slate roof. The building is four storeys high, extending ten bays in total, with the central six bays projecting slightly and curved corner bays at each end. The ground floor has been renewed. The upper floors feature sash windows, some with glazing bars, set in plain reveals, with aprons below the second-floor windows. A second-floor band and prominent entablature run across the upper floors, along with a top band, cornice, and blocking course.
