Description

Wesley Memorial Methodist Church was built in 1882 and is constructed from snecked tooled sandstone with Welsh slate roofs. The church features a symmetrical west front that includes a tall central gabled bay, flanked by smaller bays with octagonal attics above the eaves, which are interrupted by lancets beneath trefoils. The roofs are pointed and banded. The central recess contains a rose window above three lancets, with single lancets on either side. At the peak of the gable, there are three small stepped lancets. The building also has two pointed arched doorways. Overall, it is a pleasing and unique adaptation of early Gothic architecture.
