Description

Pawston Birks Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse situated on Pawston Road in Blaydon. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with large quoins, and has a renewed pantile roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high with two windows. It features chamfered stone surrounds to renewed casement windows with glazing bars, and a low gable parapet formed of large, irregular stones. There is a brick chimney at one end.

Inside, the windows in all rooms have splayed seats. A ground floor chimney on the right side includes a corniced mantel shelf above a wide, square stone chimney-piece with tongue-stopped chamfer. A porch on the left and an extension on the right have been altered and are not considered significant.
