Description
The Union Arms Hotel is an early to mid-18th century building located on High Street in Yarm. It is constructed of red brick with a decorative pattern created by buff headers. The hotel features stone cill bands on both the first and second floors, and the roof has been replaced with modern concrete tiles, which sit above a moulded wooden eaves cornice.
The building stands three storeys high and has three windows. The upper floors have modern small paned casements set beneath flat gauged brick arches that include keystones. The ground floor has a modern window and door, while a 19th-century doorcase adds historical character. To the right, there is a yard entrance featuring a flattened elliptical arch with a keystone that is dated 1762. This date likely pertains to the arch itself, as the hotel is believed to be older than that.
