Description
No. 16 High Street is a lodge to Norton Board School, built in 1872. This two-storey building is designed in the Tudor Gothic style and features two windows, with a coach arch located to the right. The structure is constructed of English bond brick, with stone cills and a lintel above the right-hand first floor window. There is a terracotta cill string at the first floor level and a flat arch over the left-hand first floor window. The roof is slate, with sprocket eaves. To the left, there is a ground floor bay. A pointed arch made of moulded bricks and a low stone import leads to the former school alley, which has a panel above it inscribed with "A D Norton Board School 1872." The gable above the first floor window features a lock. The building has casement windows with glazing bars and wooden mullions. There is an entrance on the east side of the arch, leading to a two-storey, two-window extension.
